Reflection

I have developed as a writer very much since seventh grade and even from seventh grade until the end of eighth grade. I now use better word choice and sentence beginnings as well as structure. I used to only be good at writing my essays and that's all I would write, and I would not enjoy it at all, but this year I developed writing skills in other areas, as I developed as a person outside of school so I also developed as a writer. As the time passed by, I started actually enjoying writing poetry and creative pieces because I could write about whatever I wanted and I could just write down what I was thinking and I could usually turn it into something good. I also started writing essay's about different things and I turned out to be pretty good at it.

Confident or Cocky?

Having a mentally challenged brother may not seem so bad, but when people are constantly bagging on him it may be. Raymond is a young boy with a younger sister nicknamed Squeaky. This name was created because she has a high and squeaky voice. Squeaky is a very good young runner but she has much more then that to realize. Beginning to end, squeaky changed as a person very much and now respects others. Also, she is realizing that there are other good runners aside from herself.

Squeaky is a changed character from cover to cover. At the beginning, she is full of herself, a bit to much. Knowing you are better then people is one thing, but showing it and saying it is another. She is overconfident and she shows it and talks about how good she is constantly. As she said herself "First of all I am the best, and that’s all it is." It proves the person she was before the race. After the race she was different. Nodding and smiling that was taking place was actually true, and real which at the beginning she says is unheard of. They did it though, and it was true. Realizing somebody else's potential may be the greatest way that Squeaky has changed within this story. As well as respect, realizing potential is an important lesson in this story.

This story is called "Raymond's Run" and not Squeaky's run for a reason. She is the one that has to figure out that the whole world does not revolve around her. Thinking back, she realizes that Raymond does run weird, but fast. Running beside her at every turn and always keeping up is something he has always done. Now realizing this potential she does not care if she had won the race, because honestly, what else does Raymond have to win? Squeaky has the opportunity to learn more and excel at other things, but Raymond does not. She does end up winning the race as does Raymond. But not only did she get to realize the potential of her brother she learned that others are good runners and she learned to respect that.

Respect is a seven letter word that can be easily defined but never truly understood. Treat people how you would like to be treated. Do not just assume people are mean because you do not truly know them if you do not try to become closer to them. In the beginning Squeaky is saying how girls never truly smile at each other and how when they do it is fake. By the end of the story though her perspective has changed. She ends up respecting people and actually smiling at them "A real smile…" They had a mile of respect between them. Smiling and nodding, which started out that no girls knew how to do. By the end they really were smiling though, that is the main thing that shows there is respect between them and it truly shows she is a changed character.

Respecting people and realizing potential was the work of Raymond. He got Squeaky to realize his potential and doing that is what hooked to her respecting others. She then was thinking about that and didn't care who won because she could help him and also she knew that there were other fast people aside from herself. Ultimately this story taught me not to assume things and to respect others and look to see the potential of others instead of just knowing you’re the best.

Raymond's Run~Rosie

I got to admit I push people around. To them I come across as mean and what not but honestly I am lost. I make fun of people to hide my own insecurities. People that are easy to make fun of, I do, like Raymond. He has a huge head and I make fun of him for it because I know people make fun of me behind my back, or even to my face. Either way, people think I am mean but I just need a way to make me feel good about myself.

"Hey Squeaky!" I say in a squeaky voice like her own.
"What do you want fatso?" She says in return, which I really hate because she is pointing out my flaws once again.
"I want some watermelon so can we take a slice out of that" I giggle as I point at Raymond's head.
"You can make fun of me, but making fun of him is too far."
"Whatever, I didn't know you were his mother."
"Well I am. Do it again and I'll be yours as well."

I walk away because I am upset. I hate how annoying her voice is, it rings on and on. She is a brat, her parents do everything for her. And she is way overconfident I just cannot wait for someone to come along and beat her into the ground. Try running down there! I start laughing as I think this to myself.

Getting the race over was the greatest thing ever. Squeaky may have lost finnaly!!!!! But then we hear the news, she won again, but watch out next year everybody may finnaly take revenge from all those stupid years that she has won. She doesn't deserve it and I just think that it is not right to win something over and over while being mean to people along the way. I will never respect her because she is the meanest girl I've ever met in my life.

Everything to me...

You know that feeling that you get inside,
The one you get when you see somebody,
Somebody very special to you,
The person that is in your life that changed it,
The one person that your life was missing,
And now that they have left nothing can be the same,
Now that they entered your life they cannot leave,
Even though you didn’t know them at one point you need them,
You need them there for support on your worst days,
To tell you how beautiful you look even when you know they are lying,
That one person that you think about without even trying,
The one person you need and all you can do is hope,
Hope that they see this connection too.

Personification

I look in at you, see you staring back,
I sway in the breeze, loose my leaves,
I change my clothes in the form of my leaves,
I hold hands with others that stand by my side,
I don't miss either day or night,
I am always awake looking at you,
Wishing I could run away like a kid mad at her parents,
But I just sit here every waking moment,
Dying and dying,
Then a dog comes and pees on me,
I pet the dog as it leans on me,
Maybe I can play catch in the park,
But nobody cares about me,
I am just a dying old tree.

2081

The year was 2081. Everything was working out. I was the old lady causing the trouble in the nursing home. The one who made the nurse call the cops in the room and say "This lady is crazy! Get her out of here!" The cops just laugh and think, wow, this innocent little lady. Then they ask what I am even doing anyways. The nurse has to giggle a little bit when she says this now and then replies, "She is slamming into walls with her wheelchair and knocking down everything and anything in her way she just took out a 80 year old man!" The cops start laughing and then say "Hey! Lady what are you thinking?" All I say is, "I wanted some fun! I feel like I can touch the sky!" And that was my singing..."Never say never. (never say it, never never say it." Then I start rapping my husbands song from when he was younger...
"Here we go!
Guess who?
JSmith and Jb!
I gotcha lil bro.

I can handle him.
Hold up, aight?
I can handle him.

Now he's bigger than me,
Taller than me.
And he's older than me,
And stronger than me.
And his arms a little bit longer than me.
But he ain't on a JB song with me!

I be trying a chill
They be trying to side with the thrill.
No pun intended, was raised by the power of Will.

Like Luke with the force, when push comes to shove.
Like Cobe with the 4th, ice water with blood.

I gotta be the best, and yes
We're the flyest.
Like David and Goliath,
I conquered the giant.
So now I got the world in my hand,
I was born from two stars
So the moon's where I land."

"Take her outta here!" The cops yell and scream but right at that moment I wheelchair away and hide at an underground place...I will never be found until my husband finds me.

Valentines Day

Spread the love, happiness and joy,
This is the day to do it.
Share a laugh, kiss, and hug,
Enjoy this day to the fullest.
It only comes once a year ,
and is meant to be the day of love.
Don’t be sad and all depressed,
If you don’t have someone to love.
All your friends love you tons,
It doesn’t matter if you are with someone.
If you belong with them or not.
Just remember on this day,
That we will always love you just the same.

....I do not really like this much so tell me how to make it better...

There is a reason they are called DREAMS.....

Waiting, hoping, wishing, dreaming.
Maybe today things will change.
All my waiting may be over,
All my hoping and wishing will come true,
And maybe just maybe my dreams will become reality.
This probably wont happen just like that,
If it does I will have the best thing I can ever have, you.
I wait because maybe just maybe you feel the same way.
I hope that one day we can be together,
I will wish that you are by my side and never leave,
And I dream that your mine.
