poem about a painting... the wood carrier

Old and barely touched with life,
About to see an angel in the autumn,
His last hope is through this child,
Her blue shirt full of life,
She does not think anything is wrong with this picture,
With the old man using his watchful eye,
Keeping her out of trouble,
But he is in his own.
She has innocence,
Does not mean to harm,
She is doing nothing wrong,
Because of the old man's eye,
Watching and watching,
Waiting and waiting,
He doesn't know when it is coming,
But soon is sooner than he may think,
His watchful eye should be on himself,
But he is thoughtful and does not care,
He is willing to risk his life for this girl,
This girl is close in his heart and through love,
The love takes over all the other emotions,
This is where the old man will lie,
Not because something bad happens,
But because of his love for this young girl,
He is sacrificing everything for her,
Just like a grandfather to his granddaughter.

  1. Really good word choice. You did a really good job describing how the old man might feel and what his life is like.

  2. I really like that. It paints the picture, exactly how we saw it in class.
